I suppose it is fortunate for fans of the show (and fans of DC’s former Batgirl series, pre-rebootlaunch) that DC is preparing Smallville Season 11, a new comic series picking up where the show left off now that Clark Kent has donned the classic costume and is ready to be the hero everyone knew he’d become when the show first aired in 2001. The book will be written by (Multiversity favorite) Bryan Q. No matter where you stood on opinion with the show, whether you were there from the beginning and loved it all or just hated the idea of teen angst ridden Superman, DC managed to get a television show starring their biggest character (let alone the biggest character in comics history) on air for ten seasons, ending it on their own terms while other shows like Heroes or the Cape become mere cautionary tales. Smallville is one of DC’s greatest accomplishments in television from the past decade. He captures not only the odd and amazing and poignant animal stories so brilliantly, but even more than that, captures human life, outlook, and interactions better than most writers I know. But what I didn't realize was how much more these books are more than just animal stories. For the animal lovers out there, these are a no-brainer fabulous. The books are autobiographical about the author's life as a country veterinarian in the rural Yorkshire Dales in northern England. However, as soon as I began the first book in this 5 book series, I realized that I'd been totally missing out by just reading the children's versions. My mom was really into the BBC show based on the books in the 80s and we had some of the stories that had been adapted to children's books. Dav and Sayuri later married each other in 2005.īetween 20, Pilkey started an interactive Captain Underpants website. Even though it is spelled Dav, it is pronounced "Dave" (rhyming with save).Īfter moving to Washington, he met his sweetheart Sayuri, a professional musician and owner of his favorite Japanese sushi restaurant. The odd spelling of his first name came from a period of employment in a Pizza Hut, where the "e" was omitted from his nametag. The award included the book's publishing in 1987. Pilkey entered his first book, World War Won, in a national competition for student authors and won in his age category. Pilkey was frequently reprimanded for his behavior in class and spent a lot of time sitting at a desk in the school hallway, where he created the character Captain Underpants. In elementary school in Elyria, Ohio, he was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. 2.10 Dumb Bunnies series (as Sue Denim)ĭav Pilkey was born on Main Cleveland, Ohio to David Pilkey Sr. |
